Located at Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh, the town of Orchha was established by RudraPratap Singh sometime after 1501. It lies on the Betwa River some 15 km from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. Built by the Bundelkhand Chief, The famous site of the Chaturbhuj Temple was built during the reign of Emperor Akbar, by the Queen of Orchha, Ganesh Kunwar. Much of the tourist attraction in Orchha consists of a huge palace and fort and the many temples that tourist flock all year round. Some of the famous temples include Ram Raja Temples, Laxminarayn Temple, Chattarbuja Temples, Radhika Raman temple. The most famous site at Orchhas are the chhatris that can be seen from the banks of the Betwa River. Adjoining to the temples site is the Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary where tourists can go for treks and strolls. Accessibility to Orchha is easy, with Gwalior being the nearest airport. The Orchha station of the North-Central Railways lies in the Jhansi-Manikpur section. There are plenty of tuk-tuk and rickshaws to ferry the tourists around and small guest houses and hotels for staying in.

Best Time to visit Orchha:
Best time to visit Khajuraho is from October to March when temperature remains pleasant and is apt for local sightseeing. Temperature from April to June are extremely hot which makes it very tough for sightseeing tour.
Monsoon season i.e. July to September is the best time for those who are looking for best deals and discounts. But the weather remains humid around this time.
