Kanha National Park is part of the largest tiger reserve in Central India, Kanha Tiger Reserve that extends well over 2000 sq kilometres in the districts of Mandla and Balaghat with Jabalpur being the nearest city. The landscape of Kanha has sal and bamboo forests, plateaus, meadows and meandering streams that hosts a wide variety of animals like tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, hyena and even Gaur and hard ground Barasingha or swamp deer along with sambhar, chital and wild boards in herbivores. Kanha has 7 safari zones accessible by gypsies, 4 in core namely- Kanha, Kisli, Sarhi and Mukki and 3 in buffer- Khatia, Sijhora and Khapa. Phen Wildlife Sanctuary, a satellite core of Kanha has also good sightings of tigers, leopards and sloth bears. Tourism season if from October to June and the national park is closed during rainy season.
On arrival check in at your wildlife themed lodge overlooking forest & have delicious lunch. This day we keep leisure for acclimatization. You can go for nature walk.

Kanha National Park remains open for tourists from 15th October to 30th June. Kanha National park remains closed for the remaining months.
If you like to see lush green forest with cool & pleasant weather then October to March is the best time for you to visit Kanha National park. Mostly tourists visit Kanha National park between October to March because of this reason. December to March is the best time for bird watching. Large number of migratory birds visit Kanha National Park during these months.
From April to June the heat is unbearable and most of the vegetation at Kanha gets dried but sighting of wild animals is easier in these months than compare to winters. Wild animals often easily seen around various man made waterholes.
BY ROAD:
Kanha National park is easily accessible from major towns like Jabalpur (160 kms), Nagpur (300 kms) and Raipur (250 kms) etc.
BY RAIL:
Gondia(145 kms) and Jabalpur (160 kms) are the nearest railhead to Kanha National Park with good train connectivity across India.
BY AIR:
Jabalpur (160 kms) and Raipur (250 kms) are the nearest domestic airport and Nagpur is the nearest International airport located at a distance of 300 kms.
