Named after the Bhima, the charismatic mythological character of Mahabharata, the lake city of Bhimtal is located at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level. Bounded by the dense forest of oak and pines, the palace is famous for Bhimtal lake which is larger than the famous Naini lake in Nainital. Bhimtal is blissful and less crowded than Nainital, which is making it popular among the tourists. Hotels and resorts in Bhimtal are more economical, peaceful and offer better views , as compared to Nainital. The popular attractions of this tranquil place are paddle boating, bird watching, nature walk. Bhimeshwara Temple, located on the banks of the lake, is believed to be constructed by Bhima himself, attracets mythology and religious tourists. During winter months, the lake is full of migratory birds which attracts bird watchers and nature lovers. Bhimtal is an ideal place for relaxation, honeymooners and nature lovers.
